The airline head office is based in Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi, near the Abu Dhabi International Airport. Etihad has been in business since November 2013 and manages more than 1000 flights per week to more than 120 destinations around the world. This includes passenger and cargo services. In 2014 the airline increased their services by 22.3% and carried 14.8 million passengers. This resulted in revenues of more than US$7 billion and profits of US$73 million. The airline started its own airline alliance called Etihad Airways Partners. This alliance includes Alitalia, Jet Airways, Air Berlin, Niki, Air Serbia, Air Seychelles and Etihad Regional. They also have part ownership in each of these airline partners.
Etihad currently manages a modern fleet of 122 aircraft including Airbus and Boeing machines. Their hangars at Abu Dhabi International Airport covers around 42 000 square meters. This includes 10 000 square meters of maintenance facilities as well as a parking hangar that can house up to three A380 aircraft at the same time. Etihad Airways Engineering takes care of the management of the fleet which includes routine maintenance, complex repairs, cabin modifications and connectivity solutions. Maintenance and fleet reliability is of the utmost importance.
Quite recently, a striking new livery design was launched across the Etihad fleet. It establishes the airline as a progressive and innovative brand, proudly rooted in its culture and rich history. The airline claims ‘the world’s most luxurious living space in the air’. Before boarding, you can relax in one of their stylish lounges which will prepare you for your flight of luxury. First class passengers can expect a leather armchair and a separate bed with even enough space to walk around once closing your private doors. When flying economy, you can expect a comfortable headrest and adjustable back support for more comfort. Passengers can also expect comfortable blankets, neck pillows, on-demand entertainment and onboard food and refreshments.
